David P. Deavel is an associate editor of
Logos: A Journal of Catholic Thought and Culture and a contributing editor for
Gilbert Magazine, the publication of the American Chesterton Society. He
possesses an M.A. and M.Phil. in theology and is currently completing a doctoral
dissertation for Fordham University entitled “Under Judgment: The Threat of
Eternal Damnation in the Thought of John Henry Newman.” His writing has appeared
in academic journals such as Faith & Reason, Journal of Markets and
Morality, Logos, New Blackfriars, and Pro Ecclesia; as well as more popular
outlets including America, Catholic World Report, Commonweal, Homiletic &
Pastoral Review, National Catholic Register, St. Austin Review, Touchstone and
elsewhere. He lives in St. Paul with his wife Catherine, an associate professor
of philosophy at the University of St. Thomas, and his sons Gus, Patrick, Vinny,
and Oliver.
