Oliver Halsell Care Award
Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Award pays tribute to Orange County individuals whose kindness and dedication to serving others is inspirational. These courageous individuals go above and beyond their job description to serve with the utmost care and compassion. Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Award winners come from many fields including private care, hospice, social work, counseling, assisted living, nursing, therapy and volunteer work.
We serve from our heart. This is the motto that has guided Fairhaven for more than a century as we serve families with care, compassion and a listening ear. This award is a tribute to our founder, Oliver Halsell, who founded Fairhaven in 1911 to provide a peaceful and comforting place for families to honor their loved ones. This special recognition program honors local individuals who have made serving from the heart a way of life, as Mr. Halsell did so many years ago.
Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Award recipients will be honored at a special awards banquet in November at Fairhaven’s Mission Viejo location. The banquet will coincide with National Hospice and Palliative Care Month and will honor a year’s worth of achievements among the local community.

"It was the darkest day in my life when my husband of 55 years passed away.
I didn’t know what to do or where to go but I knew I wanted him buried
at Fairhaven. I called them and they put me touch with our Family Service
Counselor. She helped and guided us with love and compassion. She gave us
several suggestions and took us to locations available for burial, and then
waited for our selection.
Then she helped us with everything we needed to discuss from date and time of the service to flowers, minister, music and many other important choices. She made a difficult time easier for us, and we can’t thank her and the people of Fairhaven enough.
She has continued to be a great help to me and in so doing we have become good friends, therefore I continue to turn to her for help and advice. I love her for all she has done for me in the difficult time. "
